National Handbag Day
I had originally intended to post this last week as October 10th was National Handbag Day. In light of what was going on in the world I felt it wasn’t the best time. I hope peace is found very soon.
I’ve always been a handbag lover, and until a short time ago did not realize that National Handbag Day even existed. It is, in fact, today! Aside from serving a practical purpose, handbags are both stylish and fun, and their history goes back quite a long time. I love this article from daysoftheyear.com, which gives some interesting handbag history. https://bit.ly/46qW9lB
On my recent trip to Italy, I took the opportunity to shop for bags, as, after all, Italy is the place to get leather. Since I was going to Florence, one particular shop was recommended. I was told the owner, Sam, was super nice and had some amazing styles. The store did not disappoint on both counts! Here is the contact info (they also ship to the U.S) https://www.ilperseoleather.com/
I like crossbody handbag styles, but sometimes totes are appropriate depending on the activity. Good organization is very important, in my opinion, with easy access to your cellphone and keys.
No matter what color, type, style bag you choose, you’ll want to take good care of it. Always follow the designer/manufacturer's recommendations, and store it in its dust bag when not in use out of direct sunlight. Depending on the bag’s material, you might want to use a protective spray like for shoes and boots, but again, check the specifics for your item. I also love and have several nylon and quilted bags, which are great for quick cleanup and are generally washable, at least for spot cleaning.
Happy National Handbag Day! Joyfully Neat is available to help organize your bags and the rest of your closet, and if you buy a new bag, consider donating an older one you no longer use so someone else can love it.
